Vax V-2000C Cylinder Vacuum Cleaner

I bought this model 2 years ago. I already had another upright model (different make) so this new purchase was purely for a new upstairs room due to my property extension. It did the job and as the new room was hardly used I've probably used it a maximum of twenty times, ten minutes each time. Then yesterday I switched it on and it made a horrible noise, plus nasty smell then gave in. As a retired electrical engineer I recognised that the motor had burnt out. So, out of guarantee, with no recourse to the maker, I'm in the market for a new purchase. Will I buy another Vax, I think not.
